Back To School Shopping.

Well, my summer hasn't been much of a break.  I've been working far too much to relax. Or blog.  But that's okay!  I head back to school to kick off my senior year (one more year until I'm OUT of here. weird thought)  on the 24th, so its about time I get some new clothes, right?

My first purchase was this lovely skirt from Ulrika at the Freelancer's Fashionblog!  Isn't it beautiful?  She sold it quite cheap, too.  I highly recommend checking out her blog and her auction blog, if you haven't yet.

And now I have some money sitting in my checking account for clothes, but I am too afraid to buy anything.  Why?  Because I want good, cute, vintage/vintage inspired clothing.  And I know that there might not be much to buy from around where I live, so I must turn to the internet.  And I'm absolutely terrified of shopping online, simply because I have no idea how it will end up looking on somebody who isn't the size 2 model.    And I know I can always return it, but still.

I guess I'll have to conquer my fears if I want a cute closet:)

Domestic Sunday

Today was a cozy day. I think it all started because I woke up frozen...really. You see, it was raining last night, so I opened my window and slept with it open to hear the rain. Little did I know, Ohio decided that it would snow in the morning. Therefore I woke up like an ice cube, and decided it was a cozy winter day.

So what did I do? I baked scones, of course!
(blurry picture...maybe someday I will get better at taking photos)
Well...the recipe made a whopping five scones. So I made another batch!

And then I snapped a quick picture of myself (wearing my cute vintage-inspired apron that my mother put in the washer and now it's all funny-looking..you can't really see it in the picture)

and finally....

Yum, yum!!! They were really good with blackberry jam! I got mine homemade from a cute vintage/antique store in Powell called the Blackberry Patch. If you're in the Columbus, Ohio area, I highly suggest checking them out:)

And now I'm about to head off to see Beastly with my sister! I really hope it's good...I feel like I'm either going to love it, or hate it. We'll see!

Snowpocolypse!

I tried an updo inspired by this post by the lovely Ulrika of The Freelancer's Fashionblog

There is the hairstyle (and me, about ready to brave the icy Ohio mess outside)

The back. It's a little messy, but I was not willing to redo it for the sake of perfection.

and finally, with earmuffs! Warm ears, matching scarf, and I'm ready to go!

and I guess this is my post about me conquering snow.  How enthralling.

I'm Alive!

To everyone who responded to my last post:
THANK YOU!!!!!

I honestly didn't even think that anybody would see it, much less comment, so I didn't make another post!

I will get an outfit post up soon, now that I know that people will actually see and read my blog!
Sorry it took me so long to come back to life!

But, for now, here's a sort of vintage-y shot that my friend Zach took of me. To be honest, I don't know how I feel about the picture. I love his editing (and my outfit) but I feel as if my face looks different. When I post my first outfit post I'll let you be the judge of that :)

That coat was only $45. Such an incredible bargain! I'll feature more than just the upper 1/3 in a post sometime.

Thanks so much you guys!

How am I supposed to do this?

Well hello there, anybody who is even reading!

This is my new blog. Obviously, I'm new to this whole blogging thing, so I guess I should explain a little about myself? Okay here we go:

My name is Alaura, and I am 16 years old, although people often mistake me for being 20 or so. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I am a synchronized swimmer, too!

Not this kind of synchro. Although I thoroughly love all things vintage, I don't do the old school side-diving synchronized swimming. It's more like this:

Yes, that is a computer wallpaper that I made for myself, and no, none of those people are me. Most of them are olympians.

What else! I have been playing piano since I was 4, and I also play violin and guitar. I love music!

I'm really not sure what to write about at all. And I don't know if I'm going to do outfit posts or anything because, frankly, I don't photograph well at all. I'm a bit awkward, to be honest. Haha!

I guess I'll experiment with my new blog. Ask me anything you want!

Thanks for reading!
